  • The district’s hydrographic network consists of the rivers Sosyka, Chelbas, Albashi, Middle Chelbas, several gullies, and their tributaries
  • The total length of water bodies is 142 kilometers, and the area of the water fund is 1,858 hectares
  • There are 50 ponds with a total area of 814 hectares on the territory of the district.

Fertile
lands

  • The primary resource of the region is its land, which consists of 124.4 thousand hectares of fertile black soil, with 107.3 thousand hectares of arable land.

Recreational resources

  • The Specially Protected Natural Area "Oak Grove" covers 72 hectares. The main tree species in the grove include maple, acacia, oak, black walnut, poplar, elm, linden, and aspen. The Sosyka river runs through the area, along with parks and other green spaces, totaling over 15 hectares.
  • In the village of Leningradskaya, there is a Ginkgo tree, a unique species of gymnospermous deciduous tree classified as a living fossil.
  • The Sosyka river has a water protection zone width of 359 meters. This area is designated as a specially protected nature territory with strict regulations to prevent soil erosion and conserve riparian vegetation.

Oak Grove

At the beginning of the 20th century, a grove was established on the bank of the Sosyka river, later named “Dubovaya.” Every summer, the cavalry regiment from Umanskaya village and nearby villages would go to the camps in the Dubovaya grove for military training. During the Great Patriotic War, the 69th Cavalry Regiment and the 302nd Rifle Division of the Red Army were stationed in the grove. The Oak grove was planted in 1900. Today, it covers an area of 72 hectares  and is mainly populated by maple, acacia, oak, black walnut, poplar, woolly elm, linden, and aspen trees.

Sosyka River

The Sosyka river has a water protection zone with a width of 359 meters. This area is designated as a specially protected natural territory, where strict regulations are in place to limit economic activities. The main goal is to prevent soil erosion and conserve the vegetation along the riverbanks.
