Veniamin Kondratyev participates in a meeting of the Council of Regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan

The meeting was opened by the heads of the two states, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The forum is attended by leaders from different regions of both countries, government departments and agencies, prominent representatives from companies and businesses. During the meeting, the issues of further development and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

«Your state visit can rightly be called historic. It marks the beginning of a new era in the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between our countries. Today, during productive meetings with esteemed Vladimir Vladimirovich, we extensively discussed our cooperation agenda and outlined specific steps for the future. These discussions highlighted our shared commitment to enhancing our partnership for the benefit of our nations. The acceleration of interregional cooperation is being highlighted, especially by introducing new practical initiatives. Six years ago, we initiated a regional cooperation mechanism between our countries, which has proven to be effective in practice. I would like to note that this collaboration has been highly efficient and has contributed to strengthening the long-term partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia,» President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President of Uzbekistan highlighted that more than 200 joint projects totaling $4 billion are currently in progress at the regional level. The regions have put together a new set of agreements valued at $5 billion. Over the past seven years, Uzbekistan’s trade with Russia has increased by 2.5 times. Shavkat Mirziyoyev mentioned that the nature of mutual trade is undergoing a significant change, focusing primarily on high-value products. He also emphasized that the regions, particularly the Krasnodar Territory, are key partners of the Republic actively participating in this transformation.

In his speech, Vladimir Putin emphasized the important role of the regions in strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan. This contributes significantly to the overall development of relations between the two countries.

«The meeting of the Council in Tashkent brought together representatives from different regions, including 22 Russian governors and 14 Uzbek akims, heads of ministries, agencies, lawmakers, representatives of business, scientific and civic circles. In other words, everyone who in practice promotes neighborly Russian-Uzbekistan relations, including trade and the economy. The agenda of the Council of the Regions is quite extensive. It includes such topical issues as the deepening of industrial cooperation, cooperation in agriculture, as well as introduction of innovations and digital technology. Overall, 78 out of the 89 constituent entities of the Russian Federation are engaged in mutually beneficial partnership with regions of Uzbekistan. These direct contacts, active and proactive joint efforts of the regions and authorities, regional management teams and business circles are filling Russia-Uzbekistan cooperation with specific content and engaging more and more participants in it. The contractual and legal framework of interregional cooperation and interaction is being continuously expanded and supplemented,» Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Within the Council’s framework, the parties will discuss strategic partnership, alliances, and share perspectives on important regional matters.

Over the past three years, the trade turnover between the Krasnodar Territory and Uzbekistan has increased by over three times, reaching $240 million by the end of 2023.
